Roof Gutters & Gutter Covers
|
|
Having a properly maintained and functioning rain gutter system on your home along with your roof amounts to one of the most important protections your home can have. It is really simple in concept. The roof keeps water from coming in from the top, and the gutter systems keeps that roof water from coming in anywhere else. This includes the basement or crawl space. Make sure your gutters are clean and your downspouts are unplugged and the water is being directed into a tight line pipe to carry it away from your home. Or, if no tightline pipe, be sure the water is directed away from your house and that the finished grade (dirt, lawn, garden, etc) next to your house is higher than anywhere else in your yard. If it is not, then you know the water runs down hill, and if your house is at the low spot of your yard water will pool and it will find a way into your basement or crawlspace. When the McCain/Feingold bill limiting campaign contributions in Federal elections was being heard at the Supreme Court for constitutionality issues one of the justices said "You know money is like water, it will find a way in." Take it from the Supreme Court, if you let water stand around your house, it will get in.

Rainhandler Gutters
Calling this system a gutter will mislead you. It is a louvered water dispersal system with no downspouts and no collecting system to direct water to one downfall location. The website says "The Rainhandler gutters are state-of-the-art rain dispersal systems invented by an M.I.T. aeronautical engineer. Now improved with three more patents, the Rainhandler gutter provides superior dispersal and strength. For two decades thousands of American homeowners have replaced messy and unsafe gutters and downspouts by installing the modern RainhandleR gutter, the proven and practical system for rainwater dispersal - never clean or maintain an old fashioned rain gutter again."
-
Leaf Defier™
The Leaf Defier® is an open cell polyurethane insert, specially shaped and cut to fit snugly into your gutter. Even during the heaviest of rainstorms, the water flows through the Leaf Defier® into the gutter valley and out the downspout. Waterloov Protection System
This website says: "Choosing the right gutter cover can be confusing--so many kinds and types. There are toppers, helmets, filters, dispersers and they all claim to give you freedom from gutter cleaning. There are eleven basic questions you should ask any gutter cover contractor. Here are two of the eleven.
1)Does the product get nailed, glued, or fastened to my roofing in any way?
2)Does it collect all of the water in the heaviest of rains?"
-

-
Gutter Topper
This website says: "The key to Gutter Topper’s amazing ability to handle water and repel leaves and debris is found in the science of its patented gutter cover design.
Water clings to the surface on which it travels. This ‘surface tension’ causes the water to cling to Gutter Topper’s rounded ‘nose’. The water literally follows the curve of the nose and is deposited in the slots at the bottom of the system."

This website says: "The Gutter Cover system will direct leaves to the ground instead of into your gutters, to clog them and cause problems; water will flow into your homes gutters and out and thus protect your home, as well as yourself, from possible damage."

Gutterglove
Robert Lenny,CEO & President of GUTTERGLOVE GUTTER PROTECTION SYSTEM asked me to list Gutterglove on this page, and after reading what he said I agreed that it should be here too. Here is what he said: "I was wondering if I could have my gutter guard listed there. It can be installed as professionaly installed or as a DIY.
FYI: Consumer Reports magazine gave Gutterglove Gutter Guard 89 points, the highest of all 19 gutter guards they tested in the September 2010 issue. Attached is an article from Popular Mechanics from their July 2010 issue. They talked about how Gutterglove qualifies as a gutter cover for the newly adopted California Building Codes for fire prevention.
Also, my heated gutter guard Gutterglove IceBreaker was featured on the CBS "The Early Show" a couple weeks ago. I know I know, I'm bragging, sorry! ... As a manufacturer, it's tough these days. Just plugging away ...
Ok Ok, the US Military is using Gutterglove also on their new line of 'green' administration buildings across the US. They all have rain collection systems on them.
Ok, I'm done bragging .."
